I'm an illustrator and writer passionate about painting, political cartoons, sequential art, public art, costume design, and fiction. I’m a student of the human figure, color, light, perspective, art history, economics, creative writing, adobe illustrator, and adobe photo shop. My public service experience as a firefighter, high school teacher, EMT, and activist has introduced me to people of unique and varied backgrounds; understanding their lives, struggles, joys, and points of view, I look to them for inspiration. I take the responsibility to truthfully represent them, their environment, and their lives in art and stories.

Wildland Firefighter - I’m a trained and certified wildland firefighter . Assigned to a fire engine, responding to wild fire incidents throughout the western United States. I’ve worked fuels reduction projects such as thinning and prescribed burn operations on an engine and hand-crew. I’m trained and experienced operating fire engine pumps, chainsaws, drip torches, wildland firefighting hand-tools, maps, weather kits, digging direct and indirect fire-line, and working in a team environment to accomplish common goals in high stress environments.

Municipal Firefighter - I’m a Certified EMT and engine crew member. We responded to all fire and medical emergencies as well as calls for public service. I instructed public safety education classes, performed routine maintenance on all fire apparatus, tools, and fire station fixtures. Participated in daily fire and EMS training. I’m able to quickly change course of action to adapt to change in circumstances. I’m able to think outside the box to solve problems in highly stressful, high pressure situations.

Spanish Language Teacher / Assistant Football Coach - I taught 5 daily courses of 2nd year Spanish to 10th and 11th grade students. I created lesson plans which were utilized by the entire Spanish Department. I maintained daily student records, open communication with the students, their parents and my coworkers. I worked closely with other teachers and school administrators allowing for collaboration and teamwork. As assistant football coach I led daily practices, skills training, and created weekly game plans. I was able to take lessons from past games and practices and improve training resulting in a more successful seasons.
